Chapter 5 - p49

March 21, 2012, at 12:00 AM

It would not surprise me if you do not remember the origin of Sette's trinket there. Lord Winalils gave it to her way back here. This is a good place for a break! No page on Friday while I play catch-up. I'll be back on Monday. I am quite fond of the last eleven pages of this chapter, I hope you will be too.

  1. FRIDAY!? Oh noes. D: But I have a feeling Duane isnt going to like that trinket D: Idk why. It looks all glowy and red and evil~ Cant wait for next pages ^^
    Moon on
  2. Awwww yeah! Sette takin' charge! Toma, actually *chasing the correct suspects.* And yes, I am definitely fond of these last several pages. :D Now, to battle, folks! We've got some Evil (Inc) to vanquish at the voting booth!
    Matt on
  3. Of course I remember the vial of glowy red stuff. It's my favorite character, right after Petr and Ephsephin's hat. I seem to remember hearing the name "Mikaila" before, too, but I don't remember where.........
    Lord TableShark on
  4. Way to go tipping off Toma there, Matty. Not that I'm upset by the potential for SHIRTLESS CRESCIAN JUSTICE!

  5. The vile is also on the first page of chapter 4. Figured that thing was important forever ago. By the way, I do love how she draws facial expressions. This page has 6 expressions that tell almost as much the words.
    Raikou-Neko on
  6. Aww, Sette being protective of her "attack zombie" ..... I'm inclined to overlook the whole of her selfish reasons for wanting her escort back, excuses I'm sure she'll eventually be stammering out when Duane asks how he gets to wherever he is when he wakes up and accuses her of caring. Safe to say she does and that panel where she has her hand over his mouth and the other so cuddly around his neck to keep him safe/out of sight is just....priceless ^^ she's like a little sister protecting her big bro. Nicely done, as always, Ashley. T^T but no update till next Monday is making my eyes water.

  7. NOOOOO UNSOUNDED IS 48% - 52% ;A; Whywhywhywhywhyhy I want to vote again so. badly. x__x Everybody keep up the voting, we can pull through for Ms. Cope!
    MagicalMoofin on
  8. You'll be able to vote again 24 hrs after your last vote, so come back then! And in the meantime, tell your friends to vote! But we're starting to make up ground now that the new update is posted and people are coming by to visit. I figure we'll take the lead back within the next hour or so. :D But this is definitely a tough fight! Time to step up our game... we'll have an even tougher opponent next round. :)
    Matt on
  9. I do remember that kerjigger, and I haven't forgotten the cover that showed her leading a braindead looking Duane around on a leash, so yeah, bad times ahead it seems.
    That Other Guy on
  10. Voted, & would gladly do so again; worth that & more.

  11. Bout time the cop figured out that the Red Berry BOYS aren't one guy and a kid.

  12. I wonder if a person can vote more than once? I shall do it!!! I cant wait till monday. (never thought I'd say that in my life...)

  13. I just got my third favourite panel from the entire comic on this page~ along with 3.37 panel 2, 4.54 panel 1 and now this page's panel 4! You convey emotions in drawing fantastically, Ash. On an unrelated matter. If yo ever feel like doing another vote incentive. I'd really love to see an older version of Sette 8D
    Tane on
  14. ...and Unsounded has pulled ahead in the voting again, and all is right with the world once more! Now we just have to keep it ahead in the polls for less than a day; polls close at midnight eastern time, Wednesday night. Awesome work everyone! Keep it up; I'm sure Evil Inc.'s fans will make us work for the victory.
    Matt on
  15. We're 20 votes ahead of Evil Inc! Everyone needs to vote! Man your battlestations!
    Darkening on
  16. Well, I wonder if Toma really rode in there completely on his own and is now going to follow that huge construct to camp completely on his own. Heroic, maybe, but baaaad planning!
    Reed on
  17. Toma looks so cute in this page, I'm almost sure he is very young and bad at planning.

  18. I KNEW that she was going to pull that out! :D

  19. Oh man. I can't wait to hear the story behind that thing. I'm Tachyon, and I'm a plotaholic.

  20. I suspect it's Dwayne's phylactery (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SoulJar). It being a vial full of what appears to be blood (likely his), that's the best bet I can come up with.

  21. Как мне жалко Дуэйна((( Даже не смотря на то что это комикс%) Жду не дождусь следующей главы))))

  22. Wow, the voting is CLOSE! Get IN there troops!
    John on
  23. Mannn, this is one clooose battle with Evil Inc.- I swear I saw it pass Unsounded by a hundred or more yesterday. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! Also, huzzah, the trinket does exactly what I thought it would do. So nice of Sette not to be using it all the time.
    mythee on
  24. Woot, these last few pages have been great, and now Toma is being all perceptive and useful! Hooray!
    David D on
  25. Way to rally, troops! These vote totals and this fighting spirt are both very nice to wake up to, after spending yesterday on the losing side of this epic duel. :) To paraphrase Sette: "You had your fun, Evil Inc. -- but time's come for *us* to be in charge." :D Let's keep it up, and bring all this fight and more to the upcoming battle with Looking For Group next round... the bigger they are, the harder they fall! And if we have to go down, let's go down swinging!
    Matt on
  26. This is definitely my favorite chapter so far, each page has continually went to even better places than I could have anticipated. Enjoy your break! I eagerly await the remaining 11 pages :)

  27. That Other Guy: "I do remember that kerjigger, and I haven't forgotten the cover that showed her leading a braindead looking Duane around on a leash..." I think you must have misinterpreted the Chapter 1 cover. Part of the "leash" is the strap on Duane's satchel. The rest is Sette's tail. Duane was probably just being mopy.
    eschmenk on
  28. @eschmenk: He's talking about the cover of chapter 4.
    jardindelanuit on
  29. Ah. I just saw it. NVM!
    eschmenk on
  30. Matt, thanks for the Comicmix play-by-plays. I hadn't realized we could vote for Unsounded once a day instead of just once per IP address.
    HABE on
  31. And yeah, the Chapter 4 cover was at night, so she probably needed to use the vial to be able to control Duane at night. (He can probably control himself during the day.) Lord Winalils all but said that he was a Black Tongue, so the vial is probably something the Black Tongues invented to control plods, at least the early versions of them.
    eschmenk on
  32. I hate how Goblins get so many votes in everything just because it is old. I read it, but Unsounded is so much better. Better art. Better jokes. Better world. Better story. Better writing. Unsounded is the best fantasy comic i have ever read, and that is saying something.
    Catalyst on
  33. INTERESTING... I wasn't expecting Duane to actually call Sette by a different name. He must really be haunted at night.
    Unclever title on
  34. @HABE: Glad I could help! If you like the play-by-play, this might interest you... I checked the totals before and after a quick 10 or 15 minute trip to the corner store just now, and Unsounded was actually starting to get pretty close to the rate at which Looking For Group was accumulating votes, at least over that interval! I am actually seriously a bit optimistic about our chances in the next couple of rounds, despite the apparent domination of comics like LFG and Goblins. :)
    Matt on
  35. The last 11 pages have been awesome Ashley. Keep up the good work -- looking forward to more when you can get to it!

  36. Justice can be had at the sound of a well placed 'Clomp', no more slave traders. Trinket: enchanted blood bait for one bloodlusted zombie or a domination type.

  37. Starfish will NOT be a happy echinoderm when he sees all dis shit dat is going down. Where is he anyhow? In Uaid's chest cavity? And when is that Chekhov's sandwich going to be fired? I want to see Starfish explode! It'll be kinda like Monty Python's Mr Creosote, I imagine.

  38. it's good to see sette taking charge, maybe those are the shackles he was talking about? they wouldn't have to be literal shackles in a world of pyramy and attack zombies.

  39. In this case, I believe Duane is referring to literal shackles. See Chapter 2, Page 11, last panel.

  43. So the thats what that amulet was for... Is that why hes been losing time then? I think i recall him being confused about having moved a lot further in a a short time than he thought he should have.
    Garinna on
  44. Way to go, Jonathan! Nice example to set for the rest of us with recruiting votes; we should all be doing that. :) One key to winning the next round is making sure that as many people as possible who want to vote for Unsounded know that they'll be able to do so 3 times, if they time it right and if that round is as long as this one. Vote in the first few hours after the polls open for the next round, vote the next day a bit later in the day, and vote the third day in the evenings before the polls close. We can do this!
    Matt on
  45. One other important step: Are you an existing LFG fan who likes Unsounded even better and is planning on voting for us next round? Are you active enough in the LFG fan community that people will know you're not just some spammer off the street? Then proselytize! Convert as many LFG votes to Unsounded votes as you can! Lots of LFG fans will just automatically vote for that without looking too closely at us, unless someone respected by the community makes an effort to educate them as to the correct choice. ;) Convert the heathens!
    Matt on
  46. Any Lackadaisy fans out there? That's the one I've found in this tournament that I've liked the most; comparable quality to Unsounded in a lot of ways, though they can't hold a candle to Ashley's update schedule. Still, they're in a different division and it seems to me that fans that like one would also like the other. If we vote for Lackadaisy next round as well as Unsounded, and encourage their fan community, wherever it may be, to throw votes our way as well, that could definitely help out. A Lackadaisy-Unsounded battle in the finals would be a thing of beauty. :)
    Matt on
  47. Okay, looks like the polls are now closed, and we've won this round by a margin of 256 votes! Great work, everyone! Now let's rest up while we're between rounds, and plot LFG's downfall in a stunning upset victory for Unsounded in Round 3. :)
    Matt on
  48. Just noticed a tweet from the ComicMix account that says the next round will start at 10 am ET this morning! That's 7 am my time, and I really ought to be sleeping now, so if someone else could do a reminder post here at that time tomorrow when the polls open, and link to it, that would help. Reminding people that they can vote multiple times a day will also be very important; that makes it a very good idea to get your first vote in as early as you can manage, so that you'll have plenty of time to vote the following day when they allow another vote from your IP after 24 hours. Now, if I can manage to deal with this stiff neck, maybe I can get a couple hours of sleep...
    Matt on
  49. I misspoke above; not "multiple times a day"... it should read "on multiple days." My bad.
    Matt on
  50. I can appreciate Sette's passion to improvise, and she might make a good leader, as well, after she's gained enough experience...but I still hope she doesn't risk too much at this point.

Prepare yourself for an epic action sequence!" Remember, the earlier you vote, the sooner you'll be able to vote again the next day! Spread the word out there and let's take our cause viral! For Ashley! For Freedom! For strawberry fish! And really, for the fun of it, because this is an awesome fun time, whatever happens. :)

  56. Am I the only one having difficulties seeing the 2 most recent pages? They aren't loading.
    Cecilia on
  57. Do you mean the last two comic pages? They've been fine for me. Do you mean the voting website? I had trouble accessing it a little while ago, but it cleared up. Their servers have sometimes had problems keeping up with the traffic from this contest. Keep trying!
    Matt on
  58. Hrm. I noticed this post: http://forums.goblinscomic.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=181&start=20#p17433 ... on the Goblins forum, and after looking at the voting, I think this guy is probably right. Goblins and LFG have near-identical vote totals and have been accumulating votes at near-identical rates today. Drat, I think we're actually being ganged up on by *two* much more popular webcomics, as a team effort. That's some dirty pool, there, if so. They each have a more established fanbase than we do as it is. Shenanigans? Shall we fuel our hearts with outrage? Not really my style, but we could give it a shot.
    Matt on
  59. Never mind, I think those thoughts were probably just paranoia from the sleep-deprivation catching up with me. Imma go lie down now and leave y'all alone for a few hours.

  60. @ Matt The webcomic pages. Voting showed up fine.
    Cecilia on
  61. @Cecilia Okay, cool. Sorry, I'm perhaps a *little* hyperfocused on the tourney right now. Maybe. A little. ;) I hope the pages load correctly for you soon! They are indeed awesome pages. :)
    Matt on
  62. I like to imagine that the hand in the second panel isn't Toma's, just some random hand stroking his head lovingly.
    Katy on
  63. It would be quite the match for Unsounded to beat Goblins or LFG. Personally I feel both those comics have gone astray in storyline a bit. I'd vote Unsounded at this point.
    Mr. Wolf on
  64. @Katy: LOL! And, a "random" hand? Or perhaps the hand of someone whose name starts with K and ends with Y? ;) I know how you ladies love the Toma! @Mr. Wolf: Yeah, Goblins impressed me when I checked it out thanks to this tourney (though LFG didn't do anything for me), but I'd definitely give Unsounded the edge in quality, in my own subjective judgment. ;) The only ones I found that might rival it in quality from my perspective were Questionable Content, which I plowed through the whole archive of after finding it last week, and Lackadaisy, which has amazing art, story, characters and dialogue, just like Ashley's, and only falls short when you compare its update frequency to Ashley's amazing rate of output. I'm just kinda frustrated that we're not putting up more of a fight this round. I know it's harder to get the vote out when there's no new page coming this time and when we don't have an exciting, close contest like last time, so it's understandable that we're not displaying quite the same level of fighting spirit as the other day. I just have a weird thing where I go all "grrr" when I see fatalism... it's like, of course we're not going to make it a challenge for LFG to beat us if we just give up and stop trying to get the vote out. But being an Aspie gives me a highly abnormal (and sometimes productive, sometimes unhealthy) level of focus and energy, sometimes. It's not fair of me to expect this kind of drive from people whose brains are wired more normally than mine. :)
    Matt on
  65. Could be, could be...LFG earns it's bones in the old school web-comic community & borrows from WOW; it's day is done, & it can't decide to do with itself now. Goblins only recently turned out a 30k donation for it's founder & is high quality, albeit somewhat meandering & frustrating in output. I'd say Ashley (blush a bit there, I know her not at all) is the best of the up & comers since following those others for some time...she could take the prize, but her voice is, as of yet, small much like her protagonist ;). Should she keep up the pressure, artwork, & complexity, she will be successful beyond the others in time.
    Mr. Wolf on
  66. Yeah. I just ... wanted to help her get there. And make the most of an opportunity. But perhaps she doesn't feel ready for that level of success, and I should respect that, even if I wish for that success fiercely on her behalf. Ah well. LFG has lost a bit of steam at the moment in round 3, but it would be a big deficit to make up... if we really wanted to make a team effort to turn out the vote, I think we could pull off something really impressive-looking, whether it was a "victory" or not, but I should probably stop trying to do it all by myself quite so much. Sorry.
    Matt on
  67. Shiiiiiiii- How can I possibly decide??? ALL of my favourite comics are paired up together!
    Jaye on
  68. *sigh* Okay, I think I'm not constitutionally capable of going down without putting up the best possible fight I can in this thing. So. Here's where we stand. After the first 22 hours of voting, our rate of vote accumulation compared to LFG's has us stabilized pretty well at about 24%-76% in the polls. This means that they are consistently bringing in just over three times as many votes as we are. So, to match their rate of vote accumulation, we have to, on average, recruit three new voters for Unsounded in the next couple of days for every one current Unsounded voter. THIS IS DOABLE. And would be suitably impressive, though it would still result in a loss. So the question is, how many of you are willing to show your support for this comic by recruiting several friends to the cause? I say "several" because many will not recruit any additional voters to the cause, so to reach an average of more than three new voters each, those who do recruit people will have to recruit more. Now, to turn the tables and reverse the trend, *really* catch up, we would have to recruit an average of nine new voters each, over the next few days. THIS IS HARDER. But we can start by setting our goal at matching their rate of vote accumulation, which will result in the percentage showing in the poll steadily gaining ground. This will look awesome and generate tremendous buzz for Ashley in the industry. And hey, if we manage to do even better... great! But please, folks, are you willing to join me in this effort?
    Matt on
  69. "Hrm. I noticed this post: http://forums.goblinscomic.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=181&start=20#p17433 ..." Heehee, thanks for quoting me :-) Yeah, I love both Goblins and Unsounded. I wish they were in different groups and would get first and second place in the contest! I don't want Goblins to be compared to LFG! The writer (also does the terrible "Least I could do") is horribly wasting the artist's talent there. It stinks that they have almost as many votes as Goblins. We will sink that ship soon, though. Too bad Unsounded gets so few votes, but as some of you said, Settentania is a new country on the map ;-) Good luck!
    SharesLoot on
  70. Thanks, Shares. :) How many Goblins fans do you think you can get hooked on Unsounded today or tomorrow? Two? Three? Five? More? Willing to pitch in? Established fans in the Goblins community have a better chance of convincing other Goblins fans to really take a look at us. Would you see what you can do?
    Matt on
  71. I'm already trying :) It is a bit late for me to make a big difference, though. Well, at least I was able to vote for Unsounded 4 times (at 2 different locations) :D

  72. Every little bit helps! Thanks for sharing the loot. :)

  73. Those of you who were voting with me at the beginning of the day when the polls opened yesterday: it's time to prepare for our second round of votes. Let's do this thing.
    Matt on
  74. Can Ashley update the link in the summary with the one posted by Matt? and perhaps make it more prominent? http://www.comicmix.com/news/2012/03/22/round-3-of-mix-march-madness-2012-webcomics-tournament-vote-now/ I believe there are a lot of Unsounded fans not voting because they missed the link. Please help by voting; this is such a great comic!
    Edward on
  75. As much as I wish for Ashley to be successful, I love her no-profit personality, that doesn't really care about internet fame. I love that she doesn't ruin the site with ugly adds and I love, love, love the way she interacts with her fans. Her personality is one of the reasons Unsounded is one of my top favourites. I'm afraid that too much attention would make it impossible for her to keep interacting with her fans like she does now. I know this is rather selfish of me, but I can't help it. I will vote for Unsounded and keep recommending it to everyone who likes comics and fantasy. I don't care about making Unsounded famous, I just want to show Ashley my love and respect. I think that's the same for all of us.
    jardindelanuit on
  76. I totally respect your view jardindelanuit (btw love the name) and I really admire Ashley's approach to the creation of this webcomic as well. However there was once a little amateur artist in me that desired recognition for well excuted ideas and I wish to extend the same courtesy to Ashley. It's not just the art but the brilliantly contrasting characters that has me so memerized and I can't say this of any other webcomic. And if more people can see this, I believe they'll share my viewpoint.
    Edward on
  77. @jardin: Fair enough. I see your point. After a few hours of *gasp* Actual Sleep! ;) ... I found a lovely email in my inbox from our dear Ms. Cope, and what connected for me is when she said "I'm a pretty laid back person and don't like to take things to extremes." That's not me; I love extremes and am all about the passionate fervor for things I care about, and it's how I show my love, but it's not what she feels works for her, and I can respect that. So, settling down, and contenting myself with the attention, exposure, and recognition that my actions to date have generated for her. Oh, and, @Edward: clicking my name in most of these posts, including this one, will take you to the current poll.
    Matt on
  78. Hey, I think this is where the fan fervor for Unsounded is, and I'm a Goblins long-time fan and reader coming in here to perk you guys up. Sharesloot linked me here and I sped through the comic in like one night. It is amazing! It is SO MUCH BETTER than Looking For Group. I read that comic also, but it's been so bad lately and I've lost a ton of respect for it in the last several months. "I hate how Goblins get so many votes in everything just because it is old." Goblins is over seven years running, agreed, but its age doesn't speak for it nearly as much as the fanbase does. But no need to hate on us - we're a friendly crowd that just loves Goblins' author, Tarol Hunt to death (seriously, he gets uncomfortable with our attention sometimes.) I can see a lot of you guys have equal amounts of admiration for Ashley Cope. Just wait awhile and I'm sure your community will grow strong enough to compete with the fans of Goblins and LFG. I'll say one thing. I added Unsounded to my reading list, and I'm thinking about dropping LFG soon. Ryan Sohmer needs to crash and burn some day, I swear.
    Daughter Of Yahweh on
  79. Hey, another Goblins regular here. Just finished archive diving, and I have to say; this, is, AWESOME!!! The art and story are incredible, and, combined with the update schedule, make this by far one of the best new comics I've read for a long time. I just voted, and even though it looks like LFG is going to win this, at least I've got new brilliant comic to follow :D Thanks for the link, Shares.
    Dusk9 on
  80. This makes me happy. :)
    Matt on
  81. I should also add that I never meant to express any "hating on" Goblins or Tarol Hunt... I've been generally impressed by what I've seen from both, and I regret the drama I caused on the comicmix voting site between he and I yesterday. Not my finest moment. You guys are great; thanks for the support! Hey, who knows, maybe we'll see you in round 4!
    Matt on
  82. I believe we're starting to pick up one vote for every two LFG votes today, instead of one for every three of theirs. Our percentage in the polls is ticking up from 24-76 to 25-75.
    Matt on
  83. I personally think Goblins and LFG are pretty goddamn terrible but this whole campaign thing seems a little insane. I guess I might care more if a lot of other quite good webcomics hadn't gone out to (IMO, obviously) pretty awful ones in earlier rounds. I'm actually impressed Unsounded made it so far.
    Zizek on
  84. I actually *am* a little insane, officially, so that accounts for why the campaign I've tried to drum up seems that way. I won't bore you with the nitty-gritty of my diagnoses right now, but the mentally ill are people too, and can contribute to society in positive, if unconventional ways. Sorry to those who are alarmed or off-put by my behavior; I was just trying to harness my quirks for a good cause.
    Matt on
  85. Wow, Mad Matt really filled up the page! Wall of text, sorry, not reading that. Just wanted to popp back and say that I've really enjoyed reading the last chapter. Now what will that little pint of blood do?
    Jonathan(swe) on
  86. @Matt: It's great to be enthusiastic about something, but as you yourself already noticed, taken to an extreme it can be off-putting to others. Your efforts have brought new readers, and that's a great thing. But I wonder, if your actions might give Unsounded bad publicity. People don't like zealots and become wary of whatever they promote. So moderation is the key, I think. I'm glad you decided to tune it down a bit, and I think it will do you good in the long run. :)
    jardindelanuit on
  87. Come on, you were seriously expecting to wait to win against comics that exist for so long? Its basically a popularity contest. LFG doesn't even have a plot. I am waiting for it to get crushed by Goblins soon. I read half the list daily. Dead Winter, Flipside, Widdershins, Sorcery 101, Wapsi Square, Guilded Age - all lost. (Not to mention all those that weren't even on the list /Grrl Power, No Dice, Legend of Bill...) This doesn't mean they aren't good.
    ane on
  88. @Matt I feel I have to advice you next time to limit the number of your posts. 3 is a good number. That way you wont regret it too much when you regret it later :P Also you shouldn't even mention LFG (or any opponent) in your posts. You want everyone to forget they exist.
    ane on
  89. Thanks for the feedback and advice. I appreciate it. I'll take it under advisement. As to what I "seriously expected": I believe as a fundamental axiom that almost anything is possible, and take a statement of "this can't be done" as a challenge, reflexively. I regret that there apparently may have been negative social consequences to my actions that I was unaware of.
    Matt on
  90. I think it's probably best for me to simply refrain from posting on comment pages entirely in the future; apparently the social conventions of how to do so properly escape me. I'll find other venues and outlets in which to enthuse about how great Ashley's work is. Thanks guys, this has been an instructive experience.
    Matt on
  91. You worry too much, most ppl feel the way you do about their favorite comics :P I doubt anyone who went to ComicMix and read the commends wouldn't be that kind of person.

  92. You're right, I do worry too much. Part of my thing. Just got back from the ER; worst panic attack in 5 years this morning, YAY! :D My body chemistry had gotten progressively out of whack over three days due to a combo of 3 different factors, one of which was a prescribed dosage change. My behavior seemed completely normal to me and all in good fun, and I had no idea how it looked to others. When I found out, I overreacted the other way. 'Sall good, we're fine now. My actions can reflect only on me, not on Ashley or Unsounded; she knew about some of my mental health stuff, but didn't quite realize how nutty I could act on the internet when the stars align and I lose my grip on reality for a bit. So if anyone wants to hate on anyone for the drama, they can feel free to hate on me all they want. I've created worse drama and suffered worse drama, TRUST ME. I can take the heat for my actions. ;) I'll take this one for the team.

  93. Any chance of there being a spot with a stable link to the tourney? Cuz I want to vote (and keep voting) but could only find the link just the once. Thanks!

  94. Hey, just another Goblins regular reader that just became an Unsounded regular reader. I think Shares might have opened some floodgates recommending this comic to our forum. Haven't heard anything but praise for it over there. I quit reading LFG a few months ago and had voted against them on principle already, but I'm just slack-jawed in awe of this comic now that I've read it. I'm a little sad to see people hating on Goblins here, but everybody has different tastes I guess.

  95. @Knuckle: No hating on Goblins here; I had a moment of paranoid craziness about them but it's all good, Goblins is awesome! @Becca: Click my name on this post for the link. Also, just going to the Comicmix.com main page should make it easy to find the current round.

  96. Also, we're gaining on them. We now seem to be accumulating votes faster than they are. We should see a huge last-minute surge today. Thanks Shares.

  97. @Matt: Can I just say, you are a strange fan. Your attitude is kinda cartoonishly over-the-top. Not that that's bad on here. I don't agree with what some are saying on here about you using "moderate" enthusiasm. I mean, hey, this is the internet and you can be as expressive as you want (and as positive as you want). But I still think you're strange, in an entertaining way.

  98. @DoY: Thanks, and you're right, I *am* strange! Whee!

  99. Thanks for the link, Matt. I started off as a LFG fan and I still do keep up with it and enjoy it, but the level of the artwork and storytelling on this comic is just in a completely different league. I wish more folks would recognize that.

  100. Okay, looks like the polls are closed. Good job, everyone; great effort. We really got a lot of growth out of this thing. Hopefully that'll mean a lucrative donation push during the next chapter break, and perhaps the rave reviews from our new readers will help our modest author realize just how incredibly awesome her work is, and that we're not just saying that to be nice. I'm gonna go try to sleep for a day or two now. We now return you to your regularly scheduled internet.

  101. Thank god.

  102. Dang, a whole other page of comments. So have we broken the record yet?

  103. I'm surprised! I didn't really say or do that much, I just mentioned that Unsounded is really great. I'm happy to have shown this comic to a few people. Matt, you already owned up to going overboard a few times, so don't worry about what I'm about to write. I didn't post it before (so you didn't know it), but I felt like taking back my vote for Unsounded because of the way you wrote the artist of Goblins and for the wild things you posted in the comments on the voting page. As some others posted, it does throw a bad light on the comic - there is no way to prove that Ashley did not hire you to market her comic and influence the voting. Hey, I have issues too, and I stumble and cross a few lines myself that better not be crossed from time to time. I'm fine now, and no longer mad at you. I will also refrain from further LFG bashing, Ashley herself said (before round 3!) that she liked LFG and expected to lose against it by a large margin. On the next page, she even explicitly asks us not to post anything negative about other comics. Let's do that ;-)
