  1. I sometimes feel like Jivi will be the only one to make it out alive in this story. Or perhaps the only one who deserves to have a reserved seat and a ticket back home, poor guy. Now run to the nearest guard with that whistle, Jivi. Run, before Starfish sees you.
    Carrie on
  2. Good Jivi! figth for you freedom! figth for you life!
    Shirlanka on
  3. he's got his zanpakuto now its only a matter of time! i wonder if anyone else was left to watch the cart, since (i assume) Starfish is going to deal with Stockyard
    Wul Gus on
  4. UNSOUNDED SPOILERS ALERT! p51: Quigley attacks! p52: Jivi kills Quigley. p53: Starfish returns and attacks! p54: Jivi kills Starfish. p55: Turas, Knock-Me-Down, and Annadyne return and attack! p56: Jivi dispatches them all easily. That man is a machine!

  5. Well, Cutter seems to have been all talk. Idiot didn't even draw his knife before attacking the much larger human...
    TheDevilHimself on
  6. Ok, Jivi, now cut his lizard throat before running to the nearest peaceguard post, else you have him on your heels when regaining consciousness.
    RAIV on
  7. Dang Jivi going into berseker mode and owning everyone.
    John Smith on
  8. But when will he level up?
    FB on
  9. Just one more and then break your leg, Jivi...
    Brig on
  10. Also @TheDevilHimself, I don't think he had a knife. Just his helmet spike-things.
    Brig on
  11. I guess Jivi doesn't need to be rescued hehe. I love that he kind of starts to cry on the second page. He's overwhelmed :( I want to hug him and feed him (after I bandage him up).
    Beat on
  12. Cutter looks so friggin' creepy in that first page.. all "NOM! blood! I want Mooooooorrrrreeee!"
    Atrea on
  13. @Brig: I'm pretty sure his helmet is actually a knife rack he keeps on his head. Those "spikes" appear to have handles.
    TheDevilHimself on
  14. Jivi's whistle is actually a "bosun's call". Jivi has maritime heritage (and ancestry) all around.
    Mad'Monster'Maniac on
  15. Pirate 1 : Ninja 0 What? It counts.
    Andreas on
  16. quick, finish him while he's down.
    ThreeEyedCrow on
  17. Cutter's got a glass jaw! No more rap battles for that lizard.
    desipak on
  18. Cutter: A Stool! My only weakness! How did you know....
    SKRen on
  19. Two-Toed Lizards seem to have a vulnerability to being conked on the head. Maybe they have soft skulls.
    sigmir on
  20. Go Jivi! I love the middle panel of the first page. Cutter looks terrifying.
    Linconclusive on
  21. Eyes on Cutter are brilliant...looks like a blood-mad giant chicken!
    Mr. Wolf on
  22. Go on, Jivi! Stab the lizard! Stab him! Stab! Stab! Stab! Stab! Stab!
    someone on
  23. Battle Jivi wins! But the soul still burns... The constant :O face during the whole thing cracks me up though.
    thetownlybomb on
  24. While I do agree it seems like the lizards aren't nearly as sturdy overall from what we've seen, I would like to remind people that Jivi hit Cutter hard enough to actually break the stool over his head! Now, it could have been a shoddy stool but I think that suggests what kind of force Jivi used. He went all out! It's not really a glass jaw or a soft skull when people destroy furniture with it. XD
    Dove on
  25. The first panel of page fifty is by far the most satisfying page in the comic I've seen yet. Go Jivi! Run like the wind before another Red Berry mook comes back D:
    VodkaFolie on
  26. Doomed to fail. Why? That seat-cover he had on the back of his head wanted a seat to cover.
    Crestlinger on
  27. I was rather confused for a moment when he cut the collar around his neck.. until now I had been assuming it was from steel or the like ^^;
    Snowowl on
  28. Cutter does have a glass jaw, it seemed anticlimactic for him to go down so easy. That said, his eyes on the first page are so great. He looks like a kid opening a long anticipated present, the kind where the wrapping paper can't hide the shape.
    Anon on
  29. Jivi, bit of advice while the lizards out cut it's (insert bad word here) throat.
    Hornet on
  30. Go, Jivi, GO! *pompoms*
    LD on
  31. GO, JIVI!!! Man, that first page straight-up horrified me, with that reptile gouging his back like that! Poor little Jivi; he's free, sure, but he's also wounded and still saddled with the other guy. :'( Go find a guard, Jivi!
    FascinatedReader on
  32. Seeing as how it was the rotational force that knocked him out in this case (see the head spin), it would have been an advantage if his jaw was made of glass since it would then break off rather than set his head spinning -> causing the knockout. BAM!
    Socrase on
  33. Yes cut his throat and get out of there post haste
    trog on
  34. @Andreas: You seem to forget that Sette is a ninja.
    nekochan on
  35. Hm. So what I'm wondering is, did Jivi get all that strength from sailing? Or is Cutter actually more of a lightweight compared to adult humans?
    Tachyon on
  36. Hell yes, Jivi! Well done! It's neat that he did not have to be rescued. I don't think it was anticlimatic. It was a flare of aggression, quickly countered. Quite realistic, really. Cutter does not seem such a great fighter and he did not really expect Jivi to fight back so efficiently. Really, if Jivi had not grabbed the stool, his chances would have been bad.
    Reed on
  37. Daaaaaaammmn jivi! YOU RULE!!!! cutter had it comming
    momy's lil monster on
  38. YEEAAHH!!! JIVI SMASH!!!
    Becca on
  39. I figured out what Cutter had been reminding me of (especially in the middle panel of last page): the Skeksis from Jim Henson's Dark Crystal. And I don't mean in a bad way, or saying he's unoriginal or anything - it actually just made me super happy.
    Becca on
  40. Desperation. :) Well-done, Ash. You definitely show that in him. I do love that he's crying.
    UmbraeCalamitas on
  41. @nekochan : How is that relevant? If Sette beats a pirate then it will be "Pirates 1 : Ninjas 1" (plural)... but here, in this bout it's definitely "Pirate 1 : Ninja 0" (singular). Let's see if Cutter gets up again, then the score might change.
    Andreas on
  42. this page just make me appreciate how well you fleshed out the lizard man anatomy... it's really cool. also jivi is a boss.
    wr4ith0 on
  43. Jivi's expressions in the last two pages remind me of Sokka from Avatar the Last Airbender. o.o
    slypher on
  44. Eugh, that smile this lizard makes! He should've been hit a couple more times by that stool. *shivers*
    Shelley on
  45. On the second page's second panel I though Jivi was going for the knife to shank Cutter, make sure he stays down, and I thought that neck manacle was made of metal ._.
    ;_; on
  46. Cmon Jivi! Melt those tears into an unrestrained unconditional RAGE and become a merciless super skilled slaver-slaughterer, rushing into the clear and sexy pleasure of stabing some red potbellys of stinky deviant men!@#$%
    Riki on
  47. Rock, paper, scissors, claws, teeth, chair. Chair beats all. Jivi wins.
    Ionjam on
  48. @Andreas: Cutter is not a ninja. He is a berzerker.
    nekochan on
  49. Happy Birthday oh lovely creator!!! Thank you so much for all that you do for us! You spoil us relentlessly with this awesome story and art! So just have an amazing day today!!

  50. Jivi's going to live because he's on the splash page to the left of this comment.
    Mr Pibbleton on
  51. @Mr Pibbleton: it shows dads and their children =)
    HeloKitty on
  52. @HeloKitty Quigs and Matty are the only father/son team on the comments page, Capt. Toma only has a little girl from what I gather and other than the spooky nightmare sequence we don't know much about Jivi's family... aside from his Mum is a "monster" of a woman. As for Duane and Sette? No relation either XD just plucked together by the strings of fate.
    Atrea on
  53. WHY IS THIS COMIC SO GOOD seriously, the action panels, SO well laid out
