Fight! Fight! Fight!

Sorry for the dearth of double updates, but I am busy Making Something Potentially Exciting. SOON.

  1. I LOVE Potentially Exciting Things. Also, I associated Jelly Babies only with Doctor Who prior to this. I'm now imagining the 4th Doctor popping in and making things even more chaotic.

  2. So many exciting things! Knock-me-down has replaced Starfish in my affections for #1 crazy evil here. Also, is Matty biting Quigs in the last panel? Or am I just seeing things?
    asocialconstruct on
  3. That gauntlet thing has the potential to be my favorite gadget thus far! Cannot wait to see what powers these two bring to the show. Matty = 1 Quigs = 0

  4. Starfish has a good lead, IMO. His amiable facade is what does it, I think. He comes off as a normal guy, but then you catch him doing something terrible. What does he do at that point? Does he hide it? Does he act scared you'll call the cops? No. He makes a joke. He smiles at you. He acts like it's normal. And you want to believe him, but deep down you know he's already planning the most convenient way to murder you. He's a CASUAL VILLAIN!

  5. Gotta love the mage-brawler tandem! As to Knock-Me-Down - she could be crazy like a fox, projecting a berserk personality to confuse and intimidate an enemy. The level of cooperation with her master, obviously refined fighting skills and extensive exercise regimen (her muscles, to wit) indicate lengthy training requiring a very long attention span. "Chaotic Evil"? I'd hold my judgment.
    Mad'Monster'Maniac on
  6. Knock-me-down and Anadyne (the brunette) are best friends and partners, Mad. There's no "master" in the relationship :)
    Ashley on
  7. :3< excited!
    Scrib on
  8. Knock-me-down seems nuts. I like her already.

  9. Hoooooo boy... this can't end well. ^^ also, hilarious incentive, been a while since we've had a change! (And yes, lol, things can get hectic, I know, I still need to get to making that "Klonk Happens" t-shirt design for you from way-back-when.) Well, that's life for you, and you are amazing for being able to do a web novel THIS spectacular on such a regular basis. *bows* Madam, I salute you!

  10. Potentially exciting things, yes! I hope this is the culmination of your efforts to get this in print. Also, no, not the Plats!

  11. Oh jeez oh jeez oh geez

  12. The suspense! It kills me! Will Sette lose the bottle of blood to Anadyne? Will Jivi join up with our hero and her child-loving escort? Will she have to give the cloak of bugs back to Quigley to get Matty out of this horrible situation? These are the questions that burn every time I read an update. Also, please don't kill the broken spider pymaric. He's the best.
    Mjinga on
  13. Bracer of Force Punch! Has she got an elephant's trample-riffic aspect in there (or that of whatever passes for an elephant in Kasslyne) ?
    Sigmir on
  14. ... also, I adore that it has a pull-start like a lawnmower
    Sigmir on
  15. Go Quigley, Go! May the lesser of evils win!
    Lord TableShark on
  16. ohhhh can't wait for the next page and i bet Sette might interfere cause she did follow starfish.
    velovan on
  17. The visibly crazy one is slightly less disturbing now that she's in combat... is that normal? Their names intrigue me. And I was already crushing on Anadyne before I knew her name, but she has a great name, too! Hm, but what history does Knock-me-down's name hint at, I wonder? :o
    Tachyon on
  18. I have a mental image of Starfish saying 'right, ok - you're hired ... but your first job is to help me get rid of the old ones. They've just become too unreliable.' Over and over again. Do not look forward to pay day.
    Michael on
  19. @Mad: Its funny you should speak of alignments here; I'd say that Quigley is one of the most detailed and multidimensional Chaotic Evil characters I've ever seen. He hates all authority and demands to call his own shots at all times (very chaotic), and he's willing to work for and with the RBB and kill lawful good paladins like Duane to defend the operation (very evil).
    TheDevilHimself on
  20. This looks like a grand set up for Sette to come barreling in and put everything off kilter... :D Can't wait!
    JethroRayne on
  21. Ah shit! I hope Quigley can teleport or something! I don“t wanna see Matty send up as a little lover boy who has to suck dicks all day! D:
    James Rye on
  22. Oh no, Quigley is going to perform a heroic sacrifice to save Matty, isn't he! You lied about killing Matty but you didn't lie about killing Quigs! D:
    Wright of Void on
  23. Since Anadyne's and Knock-Me-Down's relationship is an equal one, and Anadyne is obviously intelligent and dignified, Knock-Me-Down must be a substantial person as well, no matter what face she presents to the outside world. Notably, the names of both characters are loaded with meaning (a dose of anodyne will knock you out as sure as a punch).
    Mad'Monster'Maniac on
  24. Oh, not Matty and Quigs!!
    FascinatedReader on
  25. Oh dear. Quiggly doesn't look all that sane at the moment either.
    April on
  26. I'm not sure whether to declare Quigley Chaotic Evil, TheDevilHimself. He's doing the job to protect his kid. Yes, it's a considerably evil job, but he's acted to protect the children that are their cargo from considerably more evil members of their group, and he's admitted that he feels guilty about doing this job. I'd agree that he's chaotic, but I honestly am not certain on the evil front. Definitely not good, but perhaps not evil.
    Davecom3 on
  27. Furthermore, TheDevilHimself, he doesn't classify Duane's people as good, and he views Duane more on the scale of being a loyal servant to the Alder laws which he doesn't view as particularly "Good". Him assaulting Duane, therefore, doesn't prove that he's choosing Evil over Good.
    Davecom3 on
  28. Oh gosh. That third panel. Quigs' face. So many feels. Also, "jelly baby" reminded me of the 4th Doctor as well. ^^
    Ari on
  29. TIME FOR SOME M'F'N UIAD JUSTICE

  30. That word, dearth? It doesn't mean what you think it means.
    Airedar on
  31. Some webcomics apologize for not updating once, you apologize for not updating more than once in one day. There's a reason this is my favorite webcomic.
    Sven on
  32. Pretty sure Quigley's textbook Chaotic Neutral.
    deathsbuddy on
  33. @Sven: Sooo the reason is... quantity? It's my favourite for a different reason.
    Rawing on
  34. @deathsbuddy Quigley and Sette both.
    feline256 on
  35. While this may or may not work depending on how you motivate yourself (i.e. how important audience reaction is), I'd actually rather see fewer double pages and shorter between-chapter breaks (i.e. if you would have three double pages, instead just build up a queue so there's three pages left to post while you're taking your between-chapter break).
    Anthony on
  36. Oh man, I sure hope Starfish isn't going to knife Quigley in the back or something at some inopportune moment. Fat man looks like he's approaching the two Plats in the last panel...
    Fred on
  37. Oh, a case of MSPE - Making Something Potentially Exciting! I'm intrigued! Very clever to cover up Eph's remains with Starfish's speech bubble btw. ;-)
    Reed on
  38. Is all well with the hurricane? Do you need your fans to send you supplies so that you don't die and discontinue the comic?
    Toga on
  39. knock-me-down smiles too much, they're always more dangerous when they're smiling, i don't know how quigs is going to fare through this.
    AmetuerAspirant on
  40. Ohhhh my gosh Quigley! Overall I agree that while Quigley IS a flawed character (that's what makes him so interesting!), he's not an evil one. Whether or not he's a good father, Matty is still all he has and I like to believe he actually cares deeply for him. He's doing the best he can. So this page has me so excited to see him finally put Matty first! That little snippet of dialogue and Quigley's FACE ohmygosh he does care! ^.^ He's still firmly in my top three favorite characters. 8)
    Katlin on
  41. ...Why... why am I expecting that blond chick to be Starfish's Sister?
    MDN on
  42. This looks pretty bad for Quigley, huh? I'm guessing that Anadyne is a wright from her hand gestures in the last panel. He's got Starfish creeping up from behind, and a bruiser with some kind of Saturday night special pymaric in front of him. I guess you've made me like Matty. I didn't at first, but I'm hoping he gets away now.
    Brig on
  43. Did anyone else notice that Quigley told Matty to "climb up"? I think that he plans to get not just himself out of there, but Matty as well. I think that last panel is Matty clambering up onto his father's back so they can both make a mega escape.
    Narwhal on
  44. @feline256: Sette is Lawful Good! In the world of Trotskyst empires (Cresce) and Apartheid regimes (Alderode) mafia is humanity's only hope.

  45. The choice of colors, lighting and shading in this update are AMAZING. Gorgeous contrasts, and I really like the tableau, how the characters are placed in both the foreground, middle, and background. Perfect opening shot for a dynamic fight, especially considering the amount of people in the room. You manage to show everyone there, without cluttering the frame. Absolutely beautiful.
    Daughter Of Yahweh on
  46. @Katlin: Those are my thoughts exactly, actually.
    O on
  47. Hmmm, the khert is still broken, isn't it.
    Ike on
  48. @TheDevilHimself He's chaotic neutral, he's protecting his own interests only really, even if it's evil. That said, poor Quigley has the world against him too, I guess Duane rubbed off on him.
    Anonymous on
  49. I hopes no one dies. :C I want Duane and Quigley to meet again.
    MK on
  50. Quigley shall die and be zombificated!
    HelloKitty on
  51. lol @ hellokitty. I'm thinking they're going to nearly kill quigs, capture matty, and quigs, toma and duane will come after them with a vengence!
    Me on
  52. Nice work not letting us see Knock-Me-Down's crossbow-glove-pymaric thing until right before she used it. Hey, does anybody think it's odd that Anadyne looks so much like Sette when Sette's so likely to be a foundling?
    Knucklekraken on
  53. @Knucklekraken: Don't you think Ashley is trying to tell us something by making the Frummagem's family resemblance so obvious?
