Three new pages today. NSFW probably.

Eight new fics! Congratulations to Melody and Ross for getting the most votes but, like your kindergarten teacher, I think you're all winners. Read through and vote on the new eight! There will be no new page Monday but I WILL update with the next round of fics. Entertainment! Have a lovely weekend.

  1. Wow, this is my first time leaving a comment after nearly a year reading this comic, and I just...have no words to how disturbed I am. Is the corpse with her hair being tugged, is she being...? Jesus, I love your stories, so visceral. Keep up the stellar work. Bravo!

  2. Wait so his little cocoon was made up of the souls of women he murdered? Wonder what part of her body's Sette's going to lose first.

  3. I really don't think he was the lesser of two evils, Sette.

  17. I mean, I can't wait until Wednesday! Where's a Tardis when you need one??

  18. It kind of reminds me of that scene from Hellraiser where that one dude was trapped in a room with the shades of women he could never get at (because he was a perv and that was his torture).
    Early on
  19. Wednesday. :( But Sette will probably be OK. She's bitten fingers off before.

  20. Murkoph seems quite pleased about what Sette just about had her hands on there in that first panel. *ahem* THE ANTI-DUANE

  30. I'm more interested in Sette's ability to deal with the Kherte *directly*. She can control pyrmamics. She can tear into the Khert despite being pretty much illiterate. What is she? I suspect Duane has the best guess.
    Desipak on
  31. HOOOOOOOLY SHIT Sette What R U doin'? STAHP
    chesterson. on
  32. No! BAD MURKOPH! Down! Dooooown! We need your dry humor and inappropriate comments! Stop being so rape-y! Seriously, though, too bad she can't control him somehow. I'd have love to see a restricted/leashed Murkoph in the plot, for his dialogue alone. Oh well, he has to die now. At least, for Sette's sake, he does.
    Locke on
  33. Looks like Murkoph had an autopsy done on him at one point.... And by the way that Sett has her arm wound back w/ that dagger, I don't think he'll be holding her much longer (I'm banking on a slash across the chest or an upward stab into the chest; mebbe both.)
    Kyuohki on
  34. Ohshit.
    Arianwen on
  35. I have mixed feelings about this guy!! But I do love his character. 0_0

  36. I don't suppose you can keep the previous fics up by any chance? or tell us the titles? I don't remember the authors of the ones I liked, heh (i know, as an author, I feel like a schmuck for saying that)
    alexander hollins on
  37. Been reading for a while, finally decided to actually comment. Just wanted to say, pointed canines, red eyes, grey skin, licks the blood on Sette's hand... I'm not saying he's a vampire, but he'd make a pretty dang good one.
    Cadvin on
  38. It's been a long while since I write something here (if I did) but I wanted to say it: the fanfictions were amazing! I was suffering at the end, when trying to choose just one! each story had something special, it was obvious that all the authors did a good effort to gave them identity and life. it's a shame you could only take one! I'm waiting for the next eight, they're gonna be such a surprise! <3 in adition: poor Sette! she has just freed the worst tipe of evil mad man she could! I espect now that Duane enter the escene riding a blue horse to save her holariously and then get engry with her for been there. XD

  39. Is there any way to keep the voting for the last ones up a little longer? I didn't quite finish reading through all of them.
    mewtata on
  40. Kyuohki, she has already launched the slash on the second to last panel. You can see the knife trail, and then in the last panel, Murkoph's face is cut, although it is hard to tell because of the angle. Run Sette run! =)
    MS Kati on
  41. I just noticed, but Murkoph has stated that he is dead and not dead. I wonder...?
    MS Kati on
  42. Huh? I thoght we had a whole week till the next 8 stories? Oh well, time to read another 63 or so pages like last time. Good to see that my choice made it to third place at least, i really liked that Kobold story espically cause it never used the word Kobold nor any word like tail or talons to show why the prisoners called their overseers "humans" all the time.^^ And Murkoph´s a real creep and BOY! Those are alot of dead girlfriends. o.O
    James Rye on
  43. Welp. Time to run to Scary Big Bird for protection from your new bodyguard, Sette.
    Unclever title on
  44. The first round stories are still up on that page, guys, just scroll down. Voting is closed however.
    Ashley on
  45. As much as I don't want Sette to get hurt, I fangirled a little at the implication that if Murkoph gets free he'll be in the comic more. Cause he's my favorite. ... I'm a bit odd.
    Revvy on
  46. Well, Sette, congrats on opening Pandora's box. *slow clap* Bastion will thank you generously, when your new attack zombie pays him a visit. Also, friendly Murkoph is probably the creepiest kind of Murkoph.
    Zlukaka on
  47. Oh wow! I am loving Murkoph more and more with each passing page. When he grabs Sette's hand, it's sweet, and then with the next page you wonder if he'll eat her. Excellent way to interrupt reader presumptions. Lovely <3
    Landylachs on
  48. Also those last two panels with Murk's face are wonderfully drawn, so expressive.
    Landylachs on
  49. Oh Sette, that was a bad call.

  50. what
    Hydrothermal on
  51. Okay, readed all again. Loved Ode to friendly Coffee, wished it would have been a bit longer and funnier though. Da´s girl and To build a better Mouse Trap were really impressive of those 8 entries to me and i voted for one of those two. Hopefully one or both of them will make it into next round.^^ Will the next 8 stories be up on monday?
    James Rye on
  52. chasing sette where you dont whant her to be. that bird is not that bright is it?
    jose on
  53. This guy reminds me of Red from Kagerou. Now that I think about it, this whole scene has the same vibe as that comic.
    Tiber on
  54. would have taken my chances with titbird
    butte on
  55. Desipak makes a good point. (And I'm glad they brought it up, since I always miss those details.) There Sette was, just clawing hunks out of the stuff, and even Murkoph was amazed. You know, if the Powers That Be ever figure out that Sette has this ability, they're going to catch her and train the hell out of her whether she likes it or not. And she won't.
    Fawnet on
  56. Nobody seems to have mentioned Murkoph's chest in the last page... looks like a huge starburst-shaped scar across his entire torso. Like someone removed his internal organs, maybe? Guess a zombie of some sort wouldn't really need them anyway, but he must have *really* upset someone...
    The King of Wrong on
  57. Sette, don't die T_T If you ask me, this is all too convenient. If Sette has the power to rip up the khert, and it was pieces of the khert trapping Murkoph, don't you think maybe the bird meant to chase her in there and have her free him? Look at Murk's eyes and the bird's eyes.....they're the same! They are on the same team, I bet you.
    Beat on
  58. @ Piolet Jones - Yes, and Murkoph probably cut the baby out of her and ate it.
    NoniKi on
  59. Well she set him free. Now what's she going to do with him???
    Hornet on
  60. I'm sure this is going to be just like when Antimony from Gunnerkrigg court released the Demon Reynardine from his prison and he tried to kill her, and now they're the best of friends. Yeah... I bet.
    Nestor on
  61. I felt the need to point out that my story draws its inspiration from the events of Ch. 6 page 12.
    Nathan Wilson on
  62. Does anyone get the feeling that the monster that was referred to before this whole trip into the khert wasn't Duane, but Murkoph?
    Artesian on
  63. @ Fawnet You're first comment made me laugh. I can't wait til Duane comes back. A Duane Murkoph fight? What would that even look like? 8) Really at first I was like, why does everyone like Murkoph so much? He seems terrible! But then I looked at the Devianart and page and got to know him and yeah, he's still terrible, but in a kind of charming, hilarious way. He's such a good character. I can't wait to see what he does to the story! And I want to know what kind of power Sette has in this world! Why can she move the khert like that? So many wonderful things to see in the future. 8)

  64. curses! an i'd nearly gotten over my goatee phobia too...

  65. Is anybody else interested in what Murkoph said about Sette a few pages back? "Ain't smelled your like since the sun was a spark." If that isn't a direct hint that Murkoph knows about Sette's origins I don't know what is. Also, when he said "Elizabeth," that implies he's been watching her for a while/can somehow access her memories and thoughts.
    Carrie on
  66. @Carrie Well now I am! At first I though he meant someone who wasn't meant to be i the khert, or a just a female, but I don't know, he might mean something else... Is it pathetic that I keep checking back at these pages as if something is going to change before Wednesday?
    Light of Mary on
  67. Just re-read, seems I missed the best of the in-khert action before. I'm very interested to see that bird is much the smae as the one depicted in the stained glass of the black tongues doctor's home. I thought the bird in the glass was symbolic. Now I'm not sure if the bird inspired the black tongues or the collective imaginations of dead black tongue members created the bird.
    eekee on
  68. As for Murkoph, he is a charming bastard, isn't he? I'm quite sure there's a trope for his type, but it's far too near my bed-time to go anywhere near TVTropes.
    eekee on
  69. @Artesian: I just made that connection to my sister this morning. I was like, "Ooo, now it makes sense why that dude was all THERE'S A MONSTER IN MY CITY!"
    Mjinga on
  70. You've hung around a zombie enough to know their weakpoints! Aim for the arm sitiches!
    Crestlinger on
  71. I bet normally Sette would be too savvy to let Murkoph out, but it's probably hard to think straight when you're trapped in magical bizzaro land and being chased by a giant bird...
    Jeremy on
  72. The fact that the memories of murdered women imprison Murkoph, and they're clearly trying to warn Sette, terrifies me. I wish she was old enough to understand when a person is using bad language because they're a Frummagem and when they're using bad language because they're completely insane.
    TheWrightStuff on
  73. Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!
    Karl Zimmerman on
  74. Well, this can't be a good sign. And fangs! But, man, that kid has such a talent for getting into the worst possible trouble, she should have her own reality show. Be more entertaining than Honey Boo Boo. Less farting. Also, page 42/Chapter 2 page 14...what is with the name Elizabeth? I feel like, at some point, there should be a really glamorous drag queen with that name. Okay, not talking about my imaginary friends right now.
    Rogue Android on
  75. Very good stories in this round! The ones I particularly enjoyed were those that picked out particular background aspects of the setting and took the time to explore them further, like "Left Behind" in the last round. In this round, I really think "A Pymaric's Odyssey" is something special, really getting to grips with the idea of giving life to an artificial thing, in the manner of classic Asimov stories. Hope to see it in the next round! (P.S. vote for me :P)
    Rasputin on
  76. Anyone else getting blank pages for some of the stories?
    Skipper on
  77. Thanks Rasputin, I appreciate that you liked A Pymaric's Odyssey. I'll keep an eye out for yours, too, in the next couple rounds.
    James Nathan Wilson on
  78. By the bye, Arcticmoth's Art-tic work on Deviant Art is really fantastic. Lucky gal, good at two things and I'm struggling to become good at one.
    J. N. Wilson on
  79. Markoph looks like a total monster, true evil unleashed. the ladys warning Sette, raveged so hellishly, seem to give the impression that markoph is the chaotic evil kind of bad guy. just those not care about any one but himself and the joy he finds in killing like the joker from batman or Kefka from FF6. I would be amazed if he did not try to bite sette's fingers off just for the thrill of it.
    jose on
  80. This guy seems legit.
    You Middle Brother on
  81. phff...than again, i been wrong before :p the raveged ladys have to have some meaning.
    jose on
  82. Wait a minute... why does this guy look so familiar? His name wouldn't by any chance be Murkoph, would it?
    GinjaSnap on
  83. @Artesian I thought of that as soon as Murkoph appeared, and I just knew Sette was going to let him out somehow. And now that it actually happened, I'm convinced Murkoph will leave the khert, with or without sette. I bet mister black-tongue knows a thing or two about Murkoph...
